Sheila Makindara

Chief Coordination Officer

Sheila is a senior operations and NGO governance professional with over 20 years of experience supporting organisations to function effectively and cohesively. She specialises in aligning strategy, teams, and systems so that decisions are translated into coordinated action and programs are implemented smoothly.

Since April 2023, Sheila has served as Chief Coordination Officer (COO) at Six Rivers Africa, where she has played a central role in establishing HR, safeguarding, and governance frameworks, and led the community pillar to ensure that programs are well-supported and delivered effectively. Sheila also manages the organisation’s formal government liaison function, overseeing official correspondence, maintaining strong relationships with key ministries, and ensuring follow-through on institutional agreements such as MOUs.

Previously, Sheila held senior roles across non-governmental organisations and the United Nations, including serving as Country Director for Childreach Tanzania from 2010 to 2019. During her tenure, the organisation received international recognition, including the prestigious Stars Impact Award, presented to her by President Bill Clinton at Kensington Palace in 2014 for outstanding organisational performance.

Sheila holds an MBA from the University of Dar es Salaam and a BBA from Mzumbe University, and is a Mandela Washington Fellow (YALI) and Commonwealth Professional Fellow. She brings expertise in governance, operational coordination, stakeholder engagement, team leadership, and program management, with a strong track record of supporting organisational effectiveness and program delivery.
